Waterfall Tour
This phenomenal tour is over a 12-kilometer route with three resting periods, departing from the office, passing by "Don Lulo’s house", where you will have a delicious and typical Costa Rican breakfast.
The horseback riding tour takes approximately from 45 minutes to one hour up to “Don Lulo’s house”. After breakfast and observing animals in the family’s mini-zoo, the ride continues on for 25 minutes until arriving at the waterfalls. Look up at the breathtaking falls and swim in the majestic natural pools the they have formed. There is even cliff jumping for the thrill-seekers!
On the way back we stop once again at "Don Lulo’s house" to enjoy a delicious and also typical Costa Rican lunch. After a well-earned rest on the hammocks and a delicious cup of coffee, we begin the return trip to our starting point.

Horseback Riding At Rancho La Merced
Experienced and inexperienced riders will enjoy the ride in the expansive private reserve that is Rancho La Merced.
The horses are carefully trained for you to have a pleasant experience, as you go through the refuge amidst the forest, on the beach or in the river. You may visit Playa Hermosa, adjacent to Marino Ballena National Park, ride in the woods or toward the waterfall and take a dip, or enjoy an astonishing sunset with amazing photo opportunities. All of these within the reserve!
Several points of interest can be found here, such as environmentally sustainable livestock operation, diverse highlights of nature or the simple pleasure of riding a horse. Groups are kept individualized as they book the tour in order to have an enjoyable experience.
Saddles are available for children 7 years and older, and safety helmets are provided at no cost.

Here you can be a real cowboy!
The Cowboy Experience tour consists of riding with the cowboys - herding cattle, checking cows and calves that are in the grass, learning how to rope calves, and other activities proper of the Rancho.
Rancho La Merced is a cattle ranch dedicated to the breeding of meat, whose production is in harmony with the ecological balance of tropical rainforest and the surrounding mangroves. Depending on the season that you visit, you will be able to ride with the cowboys, do cattle roping, and many other tasks that are carried out by our staff in a normal workday in Rancho La Merced.
